What is ground lift?

Ground lift is a feature found on audio equipment that is used to eliminate ground loop hum and noise. Ground loops occur when there are multiple connections to the ground on different parts of a system, causing interference and noise in the audio signal.

By activating the ground lift switch, the ground connection on the equipment is isolated, breaking the loop and reducing noise. This can be particularly helpful in live sound setups, where multiple pieces of equipment are interconnected and can contribute to ground loop issues.

It is important to note that ground lift should be used sparingly and only when necessary, as it can potentially create safety hazards if not properly managed. It is always recommended to consult with an experienced audio engineer or technician before using ground lift to address noise issues.
